The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) intends to release the Fall 2026 Cycle funding announcements for the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award Program in August 2026.

The Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award Program supports projects that encourage active, meaningful involvement of patients, families, caregivers and the broader healthcare community as integral members of the patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) enterprise. (While previous funding announcements used “PCOR/CER,” all applications should now use “patient-centered CER.”) The Engagement Award Program does not fund research studies.

This preannouncement is provided to allow potential applicants additional time to develop responsive, high-quality submissions.

The Engagement Award: Convening Support funding opportunity funds projects that enable patients, families, caregivers and the broader healthcare community to hold convenings, meetings and conferences that: Promote focused discussion of patient-centered CER. Share patient-centered CER engagement methods. Disseminate PCORI-funded research results. Plan for future patient-centered CER (with the exception that the funds cannot be used to develop funding proposals, grant applications or similar requests for project or research funding).

Projects must bring participants together around a shared focus. This can include geography, a health condition or a group representative of a health topic or condition. The convening(s) should explore patient-centered CER areas or communicate PCORI-funded research results to targeted audiences who will use the results. PCORI welcomes applications on a range of health topics. These projects must focus on and commit to supporting collaboration around patient-centered CER. Key Dates
