2027 Department of Pesticide Regulation Sustainable Pest Management Grants Program

About this funding opportunity

To promote safer, more sustainable pest management practices in California, the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) annually funds projects that advance sustainable pest management (SPM) practices through integrated pest management (IPM) research, knowledge, tools, outreach, and implementation in agricultural, urban, and/or wildland settings.

DPR's SPM Grants Program supports projects that advance sustainable pest management practices through IPM research, knowledge, tools, outreach, and implementation in agricultural, urban, and/or wildland settings. The 2027 SPM Grants Program is particularly seeking applications that address one or more of the following topic areas: · Alternatives for weed management · Alternatives for rodent management · Alternatives to fumigants · Projects that support the adoption of emerging technologies to further IPM/SPM · Projects that address emerging pests and prevention strategies · Alternatives to pesticides prioritized for mitigation or evaluation by DPR (See: Continuous Evaluation and Mitigation Update) This year, DPR invites projects with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000 to apply. Applicants may include (but are not limited to) entities such as government and tribal agencies, universities, colleges, consultants, pest control businesses, commodity groups, and nonprofit organizations. Pest Management Advisory Committee (PMAC) members may apply, but they must follow the rules regarding conflict of interest in the PMAC Charter. Eligibility

Applicants must meet all the eligibility requirements in the 2027 SPM Grants Solicitation. Work may be conducted outside of California, but justification must be provided in the proposal application. Field work conducted outside of California must be in California-like conditions and the project must benefit Californians. Travel outside the state of California is not reimbursable.
